Vendor Spotlight – Miyuki Liem Bridal
There’s so many talented local residents on the island of Oahu and I’ve loved getting to share more about them! Today’s spotlight is of Miyuki Liem Bridal, where Miyuki designs and creates her own beautiful gowns for brides.
I got to visit her space and see some of her gowns in person, which is so much better than just browsing online! I loved getting to see how intricate each design was, and how passionate she is about what she does.
I also got to see her start a sketch and I couldn’t believe how fast and easy it was for her! You can tell she is an expert at what she does.
QUESTIONS WITH MIYUKI
1. How did you first get into designing?
I was into Fashion Illustration in the beginning. But since I went to Fashion school, I learned everything from designing, pattern making and sewing, and I fell love with it!
2. What makes your company or approach unique?
My brand focus is on made to measure custom design wedding gown. Each and every gown that we design and create is based on our bride’s style and personality.
They can choose their own fabrication, color and details. It will be one of a kind and unique. No one will have the same dress as you.
All of our gowns is designed and sewn by myself at my home atelier. It’s a small ethically made wedding dress brand.
3. What’s one tip you have for a bride choosing a dress?
Know what you want, do your research. Don’t try too many gowns. Consult with a stylist or designer to know what kind of silhouette will suit your body shape.
Listen to your heart not people around you, cause it’s your wedding gown and you have to love it! It’s all about you! You are the queen of the day!
